Antique Vintage US Army 1917 High Back Packing Saddle
RARE/VINTAGE 1917 stamped U.S. Army high back packing saddle. It’s in very nice condition and features a double rigging, double skirts with basket weave trim design, an iron horn, and compass pouch behind the cantle. The seat measure 16". Seat jockeys are slightly curled, there has been a repair to the bottom of the right stirrup fender and there is a small tear on the right side skirt and there is some peeling of the leather on the horn – all pictured. There is an actual “US” stamp on the left rear skirt corner. At over 100 years old, this is a great opportunity to own and use an authentic piece of history for reenactment, or wonderful as an addition to a collection of US military memorabilia. Also see the cavalry history book illustration (not included) showing the saddle drawn and labeled as “A full-rigged packers riding saddle ca. 1917”(cinches are not available but the current owner had them at one time and they were exactly as pictured in the illustration).
